Help Me Choose My E-book Cover (Please and Thank You!)

I could really use your help.

I had this crazy idea that getting an e-book to “print” would be as simple as cleaning up the Word document and then hitting the Send button.  I was woefully mistaken.  There’s a lot of techy stuff to learn about publishing an e-book and my brain feels as if it’s back in high school trying desperately (and in vain) to understand algebra or physics.

Although I am working at a glacial pace, I AM making progress.  The editing is done and I’m working on formatting the manuscript for Kindle. Which brings me to you.  Below are three cover designs for my e-book.  They were created by Yours Truly (that would be me).  I would very much appreciate it if you would take a few minutes to peruse the designs and then leave a comment (or send me an email) letting me know which one you like the best, A, B, or C.  Thank you!

C is my favorite, too – but I’ve looked at them so many times that it’s really difficult to make a choice. Anyway, thank you!!

I love them all, they are all beautiful, but B is what I would pick up and buy because it is colorful and immediately got my attention! :) Great job!

That’s tricky, I initially thought A but after looking at them again I think C. I admire you tackling ebooks, I looked into that briefly and ran away screaming.

Lorna – it’s been a slog for me. I guess my brain doesn’t work as well as it used to (or at least as well as I THOUGHT it used to). I think once I get through this first one, others will be easier – – if I ever decide to tackle more books, that is…

I like A the best. I’m so glad you’re doing this. I will be recommending your book to the staff of my husband’s medical team. – Ganey

Thank you so much, Ganey! I’d be happy to send you a PDF copy of the primer for you to read. I still have some formatting issues, but the text is complete. Let me know if you’re interested.

I like C the best. The title is lost in B. Is the title of the book meant to be “Caregivers”? Or is it “A Terminal Illness Primer for Caregivers”? I like the idea of a single word for a title followed by an explanation such as “Caregivers: A Terminal Illness Primer” I hope you have much success with this. It can be a great help to so many people.

Thank you so much for your input, Mark! The title is A Terminal Illness Primer for Caregivers. I wanted to soften the word Caregivers and give it more emphasis than the rest of the title because that’s really who the book is for and about – those caring for their loved ones. Thanks again!

This has been a great series and will make a wonderful E-book, Annie! My vote is for C–I like the larger image and the two-toned shading at the bottom.

I’m so glad you are publishing this – great series and such helpful information. I thought ‘C’ was the easiest to quickly get the title. It is lovely as well.

A is my favorite. And yes, formatting ebooks (i learned last year) are a total headache but worth it when they are completed!

Hi Ann. Way to go!! At first glance I liked A best, but I tend to gravitate toward simple designs. After looking at them longer, I think C is beautiful and presents a softer, more nurturing image. I don’t think you would go wrong with either of them. I think you should go with C if that’s what you are leaning toward. xo

Thanks, Teresa! I like the idea of nurturing because that’s really what caregiving is all about. Appreciate your thoughts – xoxo

Aesthetically I prefer C, but given the topic I think both A & C are a little too sad. I would definitely opt for B. Having personally shopped for books like this, I prefer a soft color palette for the subject in question & tend to get depressed by B&W.

Ashley nailed it! It is bright and hopeful and eye catching. I love colors and always gravitate toward buying things with them. :)

They’re all beautiful and professional, but I was the most drawn to “C”. B seemed a little to bright and cheery, given the topic.

Yeah, bright and cheery probably isn’t quite what I’m going for – – I think it’s going to be a call between A and C.

I vote for C personally. It’s elegant and very pleasing aisthetically too. Best of luck with the publishing of the book in general though. Congrats. :) x

Congratulations on making an ebook! I’m gonna learn how to format an ebook just for fun someday (I’m a front-end web developer, and the coding practices are similar). And I know that your topic will help a great many people.

For covers: I like “A” the best. The word Caregivers is hard to read on the “B” cover against the flower backdrop. And I actually find the half-sepia look on the “C” cover a little creepy, since it makes the flower look like it’s dying. But if you remove that half-sepia effect, I would like the “C” cover best.

Thanks, Fran! “Just for fun” cracks me up – formatting the ebook made me want to tear out my hair!!

You must’ve read my mind. I’ve tweaked C a bit and I think it’s much-improved. Appreciate your input.

I really like A and B, but would probably pick B if I had to pick only one. I am a caregiver and this immediately caught my attention so good job!

Thanks for the feedback, Kristine! I went with C, but with some tweaks because I added a subtitle.
